Am I brilliant or wot =)) =))

Yeehaaa

I feel very pleased with myself at the moment. I went on a bit of a cooking marathon this weekend after deciding to try out some recipes from my new vegan cookbook. As all good cooks I thought I would start with the puddings first..hahahaha and made a really nice lemon 'cheesecake' from tofu and some oatmeal biscuits. Tonight I'm going for an old fav though with butternut squash soup. No recipe required there as I know this one by heart.

I decided after much chat with my housemate that I will be trying a new pudding each weekend till we both become ill or she puts on loadsa weight and make me feel better..hahaha.

I have been struck down with the dreaded cold but was determend that nothing was gonna stop me from having a good weekend. On Friday I went to The Cardiacs at The Astoria and although I don't think they were as good as when I last saw them, it was still a good show. Major dissappointment at Is This The Life not being played and I hope my strangled sore throated shouts were taken on board about this. I should have gone to a party last night but for the sake of a very very sore throat I did give that a miss. Didn't want to be spluttering all over unsuspecting metalheads and making myself a target for ridicule and revenge

And in case anyone is concerned I did actually wear a sugeons mask whilst making my puddings and I tried really hard not to start singing any wacko jacko songs whilst doing so. Though saying that I did moonwalk between the fridge and the kitchen side a couple of times so the power of the mask is fatal.

Thanks Dan for sending over loadsa chocie by the way. It will be shared out at work as I can't eat the stuff (as you know) but the vegan cookies were cool.
Best to send stuff to my work address from now on though as the mail system here is a bit mad. I spent many a minute explaining to a trainee that I did not live at the post office address I just wanted my mail delivered there!!! Mental or wot.

So at the moment even though I am a little under the weather I am having a cool time. I have hooked up with some really old mates on Facebook. Friends I haven't heard from for years and hopefully we will try to organise a reunion after the New Year. There are quite a few that are no longer with us and it will be really poignant to meet up with those that took different paths in their lives and toast a beer or ten to lost ones. I feel this will be a good year to come.

Everyone here is talking about Crimbo and what to do. I shall be working as I couldn't think of anything else to spend my time on. With limited family ties and friends spread out it seemed the only option. I may go back to Brighton for New Year though and catch up with mates there, I always have places to crash, which will be the most I can be bothered to do over the festive period.

Why is it called that by the way? The festive period. Most people I know end up eating too much, drinking too much, spending too much and getting into family fights. Hardly festive if you ask me. In fact it sounds like a nightmare to be avoided at all costs

Oh well.
Right things to read:

All of Terry Pratchetts Disk World Series
Phillip Pullmans The Golden Compess mainly coz my ex bosses (Dakota Richards) plays the main role in the movie coming out in December..plug plug and I haven't read the book yet so better crack on with that.
Daughters of China - Xu Meihong
The Diceman - an old fav that I read years ago and thought I would read again.

Things to watch:

Control
The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover - re-released on dvd with extra's. Helen Mirram is well fit in this and I forgot how much of a Peter Greenaway fan I was until I watched this movie again.
Beowolf

Things to listen to:
Prong
Eat Statix
My Bloody Valentine - playing for the first time in ages next year and tickets are selling fast.
Bloc Party
The Pigeon Detectives

Right, I'm off now to do more cooking and upload my pictures from my phone onto my flatmates pc. My phone needs upgrading in December but until then I have to keep emptying the memory. Gosh it's all go go go.

Keep safe all and remember:

If you can't remember it, it didn't happen

brilliant! Love that band, is it just a UK tour?
Put them up with the Charlatans, Primal Scream and Flaming Lips and I would travel to the moon to see the gig.

Smashing Pumpkins also on the tour list in London. Not sure if just UK gigs but should be good
