YAO MING FANS... Howdy from Houston, home of the Houston Rockets, Yao Ming's team. In fact, my office is a five-minute walk from his restaurant...great food, great prices, great portions. Well, Yao is hurt this year, but the Rockets are playing the Orlando Magic tonight and I'm going. My CEO and Chairman of our Board of Trustees (actually, his wife) gave me a $250 ticket today. You see, the board meets tomorrow and one of the board members' father OWNS THE ORLANDO MAGIC. So, several members of the board are going and I, just a pitiful little Vice President, am going along. I am NOT a Houston Rockets fan; I am a Milwaukee Bucks fan. But, actually, I may become a Rockets fan eventually. It's just hard to break old allegiances. But, since professional basketball is my least favorite AMERICAN sport (soccer, what the rest of world calls "football," is even worse than pro basketball), I am not a rock-solid Milwaukee Bucks fan, either. Please note that I absolutely LOVE college basketball; I'll be home in time tomorrow night to see my Wisconsin Badgers play the Indiana Hoosiers, live from Bloomington, Indiana, on the Big Ten (Athletic Conference) Network on cable TV. Well, I've got to go brush my teeth and head downtown to find a parking place as close to the Toyota Center as possible. I hope that the Toyota CENTER is safer than the Toyota AUTOMOBILE. Myself, I drive a Mazda CX-7 crossover. Go ROCKETS!!! |
