The Red Dress

Quote is from the Biography of Steve Jobs.

"....about thirty years later. At one dinner early in their relationship, Jobs started talking about Ralph Lauren and this Polo Shop, which she admitted she had never visited. "There's a beautiful red dress there and it would be perfect for you", he said and then drove her the store in the Stanford Mall. Baez recalled, "I said to myself, I'm with one of the world's richest men and he wants me to have this beautiful dress. ""You ought to buy it", he said. She was a little surprised, and told him she really couldn't afford it. He said nothing and left. "Wouldn't you think if someone talked about it the whole evening, that they were going to get it for you? She asked me, seemingly genuinely puzzled about the incident. The mystery of the red dress is in your hands. I felt a bit strange about it". He would give her computers but not a dress, and when he brought her flowers he made sure to point out they were left over from an event in the office. He was both romantic and afraid to be romantic", she said.

I know from the context Mr. Steve Jobs was playing mind games with Joan Baez. He was in general a sad and unhappy man--and the word cruel is an understatement to his own daughter.

Legacy and ego---a straw man.

I am not that way I believe; because the power I wield or influence I possess or is attributed to me is limited-- following the maxim absolute power corrupts absolutely. I believe in the human condition; in its exalted beauty and tragedy. I am subject to the joys and woes-not separate but connected to body politic.

That said, I am glad I am NOT a public figure---nor seek emotional emollients for my soul from others! As a private person, I am witness as you are to the travails of human misery and I seek to avoid damaging my dignity by taking from other's their dignity.

Smile! The world as presented: it is not bad...it is not great either. However there is "my will and my mind" which I treasure as it is occasionally immersed and replenished in communion with others.

Within a loving relationship there exists trust....and yes I have had nice things that were purchased on my behalf and likewise reciprocated; in balance with nature.....I watch the power distribution and magnanimity in the relationship.

It come down to what you want and and/or what you need. I ask start with some simple questions: like why would you be with me? If you cannot quickly state the essence of the "situation" listing purpose: how you feel, reverence/dignity/honor/respect, etc.

Honesty:
I also state am I or are you ready? Look inwards what can I contribute given my current state of mind.....am I a Black Hole? Timing in life is important as opportunity, they must match in synchrony or there will be wasted time and emotions...once poorly executed the four saddest words remain, "It Could Have Been".

watch live today Don McLean singing "Starry Starry Night" and he is so happy to admit he is now living with his girl friend who is nearly 50 years younger than him. what a legend in many way.

There is an inherent absurdity in giving an older man what he wishes.....a much younger woman, the Gods are watching and there is no exceptions to the Universal Laws of Nature.....is this symmetric relationship? Are Both parties getting short changed....I posit yes!

Living within nature and abiding by "Logos" is my preferred way, I assume it is not for all but it "KEEPS IT REAL" for me...the only one I can truly speak for.
